I made my debut on KCR on 7th April 2008. The first track out the traps that night was 'A Life Less Ordinary' by the legendary 'Levellers'. It tends to be a cliche but its true when I say they were a band who changed my life and I can't imagine a life without them, so I thought it appropriate that they feature in my profile in the picture below (Im the one in the kilt & wellies!).
After my teenage angst years listening to some good and a lot of bad heavy metal mixed with a massive Suzanne Vega liking which continues to this day, my muscial tastes have changed significantly in adult years. Along the way I've been stopped in my tracks by artists such as Townes Van Zandt, Linton Kwesi Johnson, 16 Horsepower, Indigo Girls, The Felice Brothers, Old Crow Medicine Show, Calexico, Blanche, Seth Lakeman and Damien Dempsey to name but a few.
My arrival on radio was inspired by presenters like Bob Harris and Mark Lamarr who were some of the few playing music I actually wanted to listen to. I also wanted to give local and unknown artists a platform and outlet for them to be heard. As it says on the page for my show (there's a link below), I often invite acts into the studio for a chat and a live session - but remember you dont need to wait for an invite - get in contact!
